About Our Director
Joshua Nelson has over 25 years of experience in web development, application development and multi-media development. After attending and graduating Dartmouth College where he worked with their studio art, animation and film departments, he went to work at the C. Everett Koop Institute. There created and produced dozens of websites for Public Health and Public Service Announcement short films and animations. This culminated in creating a small animation team (10 people) that put together a 20-minute animated movie – Smokey Lies. After leaving the C. Everett Koop Institute he went to work for the Interactive Media Lab at the Geisel School of Medicine, formerly located in Lebanon, New Hampshire. There he was initially Associate Producer as well as a designer and 3D animator. He eventually moved into work as the Administrative Director, where he managed multiple multi-media projects including the web presence. IML produced many pieces over the years and won many awards with Mr. Nelson working on many of these projects. Working with Dr. Joseph Henderson, this work was spun out of Dartmouth and became the company World 2 Systems, of which he was a partner. (World 2 Systems closed its doors during 2021).
From 2010 through 2014 Joshua expanded his skill set into business development under a National Institutes of Health Grant – The Center for the Translation of Rehabilitation Engineering Advances and Technology or TREAT. Maintaining his focus of applying technology to health care needs he created the infrastructure for this center as well as helped and educated over 100 different people through investigating their product and idea and seeing how well it could work in the Health Care space. This interest in doing this work ultimately led to the creation of his website business Bee Balm Productions in 2014.
Today Joshua has developed and managed multiple websites and online web applications – often creating very complex e-learning products and has developed many videos in and around this marketing. In 2020 Claremont Community Television recruited Joshua to become only their fourth Executive Director. His focus in design and business as well as desire to grow Claremont’s media presence has been a highlight of his initial tenure. In the past 18 months CCTV has been completely rebuilt with modern cameras, hardware, software, lighting, and new servers. Today CCTV is transitioning to the Claremont Community Media Center (CCMC) of which Joshua is spearheading. He hopes to excite and educate Claremont area residents with the new capabilities of CCMC and create a new environment in person and virtually that sparks creativity and new film making throughout the region.
